  • Do not give anyone a chance to steal your cards by leaving your bags or wallets unattended anywhere.

  • Do not use ATMs that have been physically altered, tampered or damaged.
  • Be mindful of location when using ATMs at night, you should use ATMs located in vital and well-lit places.
  • Check the ATMs carefully to see if anything is attached to the built-in card reader to read the magnetic strip on your card or if there are any small spy cameras around the keypad. Avoid using it if anything looks suspicious and contact FIBE’s Call Center at 19851 immediately to report the issue or visit the nearest FIBE’s branch.
  • While using an ATM machine or when paying with your FIBE’s card, you shall always be very discreet when entering your PIN and aware of the people around you by not allowing anyone to stand too close to you and cover the keypad when entering your PIN so no observer or spy cameras can see it. A person behind you in line may be trying to catch a glimpse of the PIN you are entering on the keypad.
  • You should always be careful about any help offered to you by someone while using ATMs or entering your PIN.

[3] How to keep your card safe

  • Always remember the place of your card and keep it in a safe location.
  • Because of your card data stored in an automated magnetic chip located behind the card, you should keep it away from magnetic fields such as TVs, mobile phones and X-ray devices and do not expose it to other magnetic chips in order to keep it safe from potential damage.
  • The FIBE’s Call Center Hotline (19851) shall be saved in your phone contacts in case of lost or stolen card reports.
  • If you find your lost or stolen card, do not try to use it again and destroy it immediately, as it was registered in prohibited-use cards file.
  • Remember your PIN and any other security data and do not write it down or reveal it to anyone.
  • While using an ATM machine or when paying with your FIBE’s card, you shall always be very discreet when entering your PIN and aware of the people around you by not allowing anyone to stand too close to you and cover the keypad when entering your PIN so no observer or spy cameras can see it. A person behind you in line may be trying to catch a glimpse of the PIN you enter on the keypad.
  • Passwords shall not contain personal information (names of family members, dates of birth, etc.) with no repeated or sequential numbers such as (1234) or (1111). Passwords must conform to complexity requirements by using random combinations easy for you to remember and difficult for anyone to guess.

[4] How to protect yourself from fraud and theft / E-mail messages

  • E-mail messages can be exposed to frauds and can also be targets to criminal activities. So, due diligence should be taken when receiving email messages from anonymous persons, offering you to share a big amount of money in exchange for your help or informing that you have won a prize in a lottery. Recently, Phishing and fraud emails have targeted many banks around the world. These email messages require you to confirm your data (username, password, etc.) to avoid suspension of your account, upgrade security controls, or to participate in a lottery or other similar reasons.
  • Do not disclose or share your account numbers, passwords, card numbers or personal data with anyone or on any website you access to by clicking on a link in any received fraud email.
  • FIBE never sends you an email with a link asking you to log in to your account or to confirm reading the content of any email.
  • Hackers usually use email accounts and websites very similar to those used by banks. Hence, do not use any links redirecting you to websites or your account login page with the aim of disclosure of your security information. Instead, you should open a new tab or window in your internet browser to log in to your online banking account by typing the FIBE’s website address.

[5] Identity theft

  • Criminals always use a variety of methods and tools to obtain sensitive information of other people, including searching in trash cans for credit card receipts, bank account statements, driving licenses, CVs, phone and utility bills that have been thrown away or disposed of by many people without care. These documents include names, addresses, dates of birth, credit card numbers and expiry dates. As a result, criminals use this information to steal their identity and gain access to your bank accounts or to get credit facilities. To prevent that from happening, anything including sensitive information should be shredded before disposal.
  • If you often withdraw big amounts of money either from ATMs or any of FIBE’s branches, you should always be careful of thieves who sometimes track and target customers who carry huge sums of money. Instead, you can transfer money electronically as much as possible or get some advice from the Bank’s staff on how to transfer money safely without taking any risks.
